Samadhi Tattoo & Art Gallery

Samadhi Tattoo & Art Gallery combines a tattoo studio, a laser tattoo removal service and an art gallery in a 200 square metre space on Jl. Raya Uluwatu in Ungasan. It is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00, the team works in English, Russian and Indonesian, and the studio is air-conditioned.

Tattoo work

The studio presents artists with 12 or more years of experience. The lead artist is a black and grey realist who works on large compositions such as full backs, sleeves, legs and chest pieces. A resident artist with an academic realism background works in black and grey realism, fine line and mini tattoos. Cover-ups and reworks are done too, and the studio advises lightening the old tattoo with a laser first, since otherwise the new design has to be larger and darker. Every design is drawn for the client rather than taken from a flash sheet.

Prices and sessions

Rates are IDR 1,500,000 per hour with the resident artists and IDR 2,500,000 per hour with the lead artist, and the minimum for a tattoo is IDR 1,500,000. Large projects are quoted after a consultation, which is free. A full sleeve, back or leg usually takes 7 to 12 sessions, and a session is a full working day of 7 to 9 hours. Single-use needles and cartridges and sterilised equipment are used.

Laser removal and gallery

Laser removal of tattoos and permanent make-up is available on site, from IDR 500,000 per session for a piece up to 3 x 3 cm, with package discounts of up to 30 percent. The gallery shows original work, and the studio runs academic drawing and oil painting classes. Piercing is not offered.
