A private, non-commercial project
SmartBali looks like a platform, but it is a private website. It shares personal experiences of places in Bali, written by people who live here. This page explains how it is run.
Who runs it
SmartBali is run privately by Nami Shams. It is not a company. There are no employees, no office and no business partners.
No income of any kind
- No advertising and no tracking for advertising.
- No paid, sponsored or "collaboration" content.
- No affiliate links, referral links or commissions. No bookings, no reservations, no sales.
- No paid listings, no paid rankings, no paid removals.
- No donations, no paid memberships. Member accounts are free.
The small running costs (domain, server, e-mail) are paid privately by Nami.
No benefits from businesses
Everyone who writes for SmartBali visits like any other guest and pays the full bill with their own money. We do not accept invitations, free meals, drinks, day passes, discounts, gifts, stays or any other benefit. A place cannot pay or offer anything to be listed, rated higher or removed.
No influencer work
SmartBali is not influencer marketing. Authors are people who live in Bali and share places they would recommend to a friend. Nobody is paid for writing, and nobody pays to write. Contributions are voluntary and unpaid.
Recommendations only
We publish places we would recommend. If a visit doesn't convince us, we simply don't write about it. Reviews are personal impressions of one visit, not statements of fact about a business.
