Medewi Surf Point

Medewi Surf Point is a surf break on Bali’s west coast at Medewi Beach, near the river mouth. The main wave is a left-hand point break that follows a rocky, boulder-bottom shoreline and forms several sections along the point.

What you find there

The break is known for a long peeling wave and a shoreline of black sand, rocks and boulders. Surf guides describe the main section directly in front of a small parking area at the end of Jalan Pantai Medewi, with additional sections along the point.

Coastal setting

Medewi lies on the west coast between the Balian area and the road toward Gilimanuk. The river mouth, headland and rocky shoreline shape the surf conditions, which vary with swell, tide and wind.

Visiting

The approach follows Jalan Raya Denpasar to Gilimanuk and then Jalan Pantai Medewi. Access to the water is over rocks and boulders, which can be slippery and may have barnacles, especially at low tide. Visitors should check sea conditions and use suitable footwear.
