Turtle Conservation and Education Center Serangan

Turtle Conservation and Education Center is a sea turtle conservation and education facility on Serangan Island, south of Sanur near Denpasar. The centre opened on 20 January 2006 and combines visitor education with hands-on care for turtles.

What you find there

The facility cares for injured sea turtles, collects eggs and raises hatchlings before release. Visitors can see turtles in recovery tanks and learn about the life cycle, threats and conservation of marine turtles through the centre’s educational activities.

Conservation work

Serangan provides a coastal setting for the centre’s programmes. The work includes temporary care, hatchling rearing and public information, linking local conservation with the island’s fishing and marine environment.
