One of Bali’s best gym experiences: outstanding equipment, a huge training space and excellent facilities, with a steam sauna as my one wish.

The review

One of the best gyms in Bali

After training at Obsidian Gym throughout the entire month of June, I can honestly say it was one of the best gym experiences I have had in Bali. If you take your training seriously and appreciate equipment that goes far beyond the basics, Obsidian is a place that deserves to be on your list. The overall impression is of a gym built around the training experience: ambitious in scale, packed with impressive machines and genuinely exciting to use. For me, the equipment was the standout feature. It is seriously good, and I found myself thinking that it would be hard to ask for much more from a gym floor.

A serious training floor with standout equipment

Obsidian is the kind of gym where the equipment makes an immediate impression. The machines are excellent, the choice is extensive and the whole setup feels designed for people who want to train properly. Whether your focus is strength work or a varied gym routine, the sheer range of equipment makes the place feel special. I trained here over the course of a full month, and that is what makes my recommendation feel easy: this was not just a quick first impression. The quality of the machines kept standing out, session after session. In my view, Obsidian belongs among the very best gyms in Bali.

The scale is part of the appeal too. Obsidian’s official website describes a 6,000-square-metre facility and names equipment brands including Panatta, Gymleco and Technogym. The published facilities also include a swimming pool, cold plunge, sauna, Japanese onsen, showers and lockers. Together, those features make it more than a standard weights room; it is a substantial fitness destination where a training session can be combined with recovery facilities on site.

My one wish: a steam sauna

The experience was close to perfect for me. The one thing I missed was a steam sauna. That is a personal preference rather than a deal-breaker, especially given how strong the rest of the gym is. I would happily return for the equipment alone, and the additional recovery facilities make the overall setup even more appealing. If a steam room is essential for your routine, it is worth checking the current facilities directly before you visit; the official list I checked names a sauna and Japanese onsen.

Passes and practical details

Obsidian is in Pererenan, in the Canggu area, at Jl. Raya Canggu. Its website lists opening hours every day from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The official rate card visible when I checked listed a one-day pass at Rp 449,000, a three-day pass at Rp 849,000 and a seven-day pass at Rp 1,699,000. These prices can change, so check the current membership page before making plans.

For visitors looking for a high-end gym in Bali, Obsidian is an easy recommendation. The equipment is exceptional, the facility is impressively extensive and the combination of training and recovery amenities makes it a compelling destination for a serious workout. I would call it one of the best gyms on the island, with the steam sauna as my only missing extra. Apart from that, everything was excellent.
