Kuta Beach

Kuta Beach is a long west-facing beach on Bali’s southwest coast in the Kuta area. The beach is part of a broad coastal plain and extends along the urban shoreline of Kuta, with the Indian Ocean directly to the west.

Visitors find a wide sandy shore, surfable waves, coastal paths and views across the open sea. The beachfront is connected with roads, public access points and the built-up town of Kuta, while the sand width changes with tides and seasonal conditions.

History

Kuta developed from a coastal settlement into one of Bali’s early tourism centres during the twentieth century. The beach remains connected with surfing, swimming, public recreation and the commercial life of the town.
