How this calendar works

Bali runs three calendars side by side. The Gregorian one sets the public holidays; the Saka lunar year sets Nyepi and the full and new moons (Purnama and Tilem); and the 210-day Pawukon, a cycle of 30 weeks (wuku) with parallel three-, five- and seven-day weeks, sets Galungan, Kuningan, Saraswati, the Tumpek days and Kajeng Kliwon. The Pawukon on this page is computed for every day.

Public holidays and collective leave come from the joint ministerial decree (SKB 3 Menteri) for 2026 and 2027, Hindu holy days from the Ministry of Religion's Hindu holiday lists, and full and new moons from kalenderbali.org. Balinese moon dates can differ by a day from the astronomical moon. Temple ceremonies (odalan) and village rules differ from place to place, so ask locally.
