Yeh Pulu Reliefs

Yeh Pulu Reliefs is an archaeological and temple site in Bedulu, Blahbatuh, Gianyar, east of Ubud. The site lies in a valley between the Petanu and Pakerisan rivers and is reached by a short walk through rice fields.

What you find there

The main feature is a carved rock wall about 25 metres long and 2 metres high. The relief contains nine scenes of human activity, including hunting, carrying a boar and carrying jars, and ends with a figure of Ganesha.

History and setting

The reliefs are generally placed in the fourteenth to fifteenth centuries, although their origin and interpretation remain subjects of discussion. At the end of the carved corridor, part of the cliff forms a meditation space. Nearby are three shrines and a holy spring pool.

The published address is Jalan Yeh Pulu Blahbatuh in Bedulu, Gianyar. Visitors should follow the path through the rice fields, wear respectful clothing near the shrines and avoid touching the carved rock surface.
