Tulamben

Tulamben is a coastal village in Kubu, Karangasem, on the northeast coast of Bali. The shoreline is volcanic and the nearby marine environment includes coral reef, rocky seabed and the wreck of the USAT Liberty.

What you find there

Visitors find coastal access, traditional fishing boats, dive centres and marine sites reached from the shore or by boat. The Liberty wreck rests close to the coast and has become an artificial reef supporting marine life.

Marine history

The USAT Liberty was torpedoed during the Second World War and was later moved by volcanic activity from the beach into the sea. The wreck and surrounding reef are now part of Tulamben’s documented underwater heritage.

Visiting
