Pura Samuan Tiga

Pura Samuan Tiga is a Hindu temple near Bedulu, east of Ubud in Gianyar. Its name means Three Meetings and refers to the temple’s traditional association with a historic religious gathering during the development of Balinese Hindu practice.

The complex contains several courtyards, stone gateways, shrines, pavilions and a bathing area. The temple is built on a slope beside a river valley, and the changing levels connect the different sacred spaces.

History

Public historical sources associate Samuan Tiga with the meeting of religious authorities under the Pejeng kingdom. The site is also part of the archaeological landscape around Bedulu, which includes temples, caves and early stone remains.
