Batujimbar Cafe

Batujimbar Cafe is a cafe on Jalan Danau Tamblingan No. 75A in Sanur, South Denpasar. It is known as a long-running Sanur dining spot with a menu that covers both Indonesian and Western favourites.

Food and drinks

The menu includes traditional Indonesian dishes such as perkedel jagung, or corn fritters, sate, lumpia, sop buntut, and a crab omelette. Other named dishes include warm pumpkin salad and black bean soup. A noted drink is the “Most Wanted”, a fruit slushy made with local green tangerines and frozen rambutan. Western options are also available, so the cafe is set up for a mixed meal rather than only one style of cooking.

Background

Batujimbar Cafe grew out of a family project connected to organic vegetables. Original founder Iskandar Waworuntu first pioneered an organic vegetable farm in the Pupuan hillside near Tabanan in the early 1990s, before the family opened a restaurant where that produce could be used.

Visiting

A local food publication in 2024 listed daily service from 6.30am to 11pm. The cafe is also linked with a Sunday market on the premises that supports small local businesses, with fresh produce from Temuku Pupuan and local snacks such as lemper, apem, and kueku.
